We had some excitement here this morning. My cousin got his sled stuck in the bush yesterday and had to hire a helicopter to get it out. The helicopter landed on the lake in front of our house (my aunt lives next door), picked up my cousin and off they went. They're going to hook the sled up to the helicopter, pick it up and rop it off by the truck, where my uncle and my sister's fiancee are waiting. The kids were just amazed! The pictures didn't turn out all that well - it was brighter than what it looks.
Here's a picture of Linden's sweater, all done. It looks really good on him and he seems to like it. Cole is asking for a sweater now. He doens't care what it is, as long as it's a sweater. That should be easy to do - I hope! I just have to find non itchy yarn for him. He's getting pretty picky, that boy.
I also felted my Snow Mittens today. I made it out of Noro Kureyon that I had sitting in my stash. It took longer than I expected to felt as I always thought that Noro felted if you looked at it wrong. The mittens turned out fantastic and I can't wait until they dry!
We're heading to a friends house for dinner tonight. Another night of no cooking! I love it when that happens. We managed to scame a free dinner last night out of my parents and now dinner with friends. Can't get much better than that!

Christmas came and went and now it's almost the end of the year. Wow - the year has gone by! My sister and her fiancee (they're getting married!) liked their fingerless gloves that I made for them. Hubby has been bugging me for a pair. I'll get him on the list of to do items.
Christmas morning was absolutely beautiful - couldn't get better than this! We ended up spending most of our time indoors, which is too bad considering how often it's sunny in the Okanagan in winter. It's a rare occasion. We ended up with family over in the morning, opening gifts all morning and then headed to my granni's house for lunch. She will be 90 years old next year and, thankfully, still going strong. We've had a few scares over the past three years with her, but at least she's still ticking along. We then went to my MIL's for dinner. My BIL has converted to vegetarianism, but thankfully there was still a turkey on the table. I love vegetarian meals, but can't give up the turkey for Christmas quite yet.
We're still surviving the Christmas break. I bought x-country skis yesterday and plan to take the kids skiing during the break. I have daycare for the youngest one next week so I think I can handle chasing two kids on skis at the hill. Wish me luck!
I'm getting lots of knitting done. I've finished off Linden's sweater and a pair of snow mittens for me. I just have to felt them and take a picture. They look really neat - I hope they felt okay!

Last weekend I went out with a friend of mine to her Christmas party. We had a great time and she emailed me some pictures. Excuse the weird light thing across our faces - I think it was the better picture out of the ones she sent me. I really must learn to keep my eyes open when I get my picture taken. We had a great time and her co workers are so much fun!
Here are the kids hamming it up. We tried to get them to do Monkey See No Evil, Monkey Hear no Evil and Monkey Say No Evil. We just got the Monkey See No Evil. The other two were just being monkeys.
It's dumping snow today, so it looks like we'll have a white Christmas, as long as it doesn't rain by Monday. Looking at the weather report, I don't think that's going to happen. This time last year I was busy getting ready for Christmas. And the year before that, I was dealing with a broken washing machine. The nice thing with the holiday falling on a Monday is we have all weekend to get ready. I'm not heading into town unless it's a life or death situation.

Yeehaw! I'm on holidays now until January 8th. It's so nice and I'm so happy!
I'm done my mom's scarf. Stayed up until 1:00 a.m. to finish it off and block it. It turned out very nicely and I think I'm going to make one for myself but strand some beads in it. It would be a nice way to pretty it up. No picture but I do plan to take one with my mom wearing it. Probably a better picture than it lying on my floor or something like that. I used Elann's Baby Silk to knit with and it's very nice washed up. I don't know what it will be like under normal wear and tear, but I hope it stands up.
I've also made my daughter some Target Wave Mittens. Again, no picture as it's 11:10 p.m. (can you imagine me posing her with the mittens while she's sleeping in bed?) but I will take one tomorrow.
We've been busy going to Christmas parties and spending time with friends. We've gone to Cole and Kass' Christmas parties in their respective classes. As usual, we were bad parents and didn't bring our video camera or digital camera to take pictures. I did think of using my phone to take pictures but figured the memories will last me instead. LOL ;)
Took the kids for haircuts today. As a joke, I got Linden's hair cut just like his daddy's. Wow - does he ever look like his dad now. Darren has a mini me. Another picture I have to take...
I got two new books this week, Naughty Needles and Handy Book of Patterns. Naughty Needles I bought, and it's a great book. Not your normal knitting book. Even Darren has picked it up to pick out a project. And, the Handy Book of Patterns was from Diane from knittingparents as part of a gift exchange. She's so great to remember that I want that book! I told her she needs to be my knitting husband as she's the only person that remember what I want for knitting gifts.

Wow - once again the time has flown by. Happy Belated Birthday to me! I had my birthday on the 3rd. It was great - got to do some Christmas shopping, had dinner at my parents house and everyone spoiled me. Kids bought me a bracelet and earrings, my sister bought me kick boxing lessons, hubby bought me ipod speakers and my parents bought me dishes. All in all, a great birthday. Good food, good company. Although, no knitting presents?
I'm slowly working on my knitting Xmas presents. I'm done my sister and her bf's gifts, now working on my mom's. I'm working on a reversible lace ladders scarf for her. Considering she doesn't read this blog, I'm not worried about talking about it. It was a PITA to remember the pattern, but now I'm working on it, it's going pretty good.
Everyone around here is doing well. We've arranged for a referral for our youngest to a pediatrician for his sensory overload issues and now we're waiting for that phone call. Our eldest is having some issues "settling" into his class although now that we've set up a reward system, it appears that things are getting better. At least our daughter isn't having any problems along the way - I can handle only so much! :) She's a handful all in herself. Although we appreciate it greatly as we know that no one will make her do anything she doesn't want to do.

Have you ever gone to a work party and left with a whole new perspective on someone? There was a retirement party for someone at work on Saturday night. I expected to go and have a good time, but in no way did I expect that I would have had that much fun. Things were great until a mickey of tequila showed up. That disappeared quickly and then a jug of tequila (complete with a handle!) appeared on the counter. Then it was just that much more fun. I was three tequila from the floor - you know, one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, four, five tequila, six tequila, seven tequila, floor. There's something to be said about a household that contains a jug of tequila.
Today I've realized there's 34 days until Christmas. So, if I go all out knitting, I need to dedicate no more than 6 1/4 days of knitting per giftee in order to get done. Considering that I'm working on something else that needs to be done in the next few days, my true knitting can't start until Saturday. So, that leaves me with 30 days of knitting - only 6 days per item. I think it can be done.

Good news! Got the job. Yay me! It starts officially now and I'm now down to working 17.5 hours per week, rather than 20.
I've been working on a pair of toe up socks for me when I'm out and about. As you can tell, I've done so much. For some reason, I just can't the toe right. Last night I worked on the figure 8 cast on for about 45 minutes, and then gave up. That's not including the other times I've work on it. I have been successful before with toe up socks, I just can't figure out why I can't with this one.
On the bright side, I am getting things done. I've have Heart #2 done and have enough yarn for a third one. Talk about bang for your buck. The Koigu yarn was about $14 and I get three ornaments out of it.
Starting next week, hubby and I will be going to a parent group for children who suffer from sensory overload. I hope it's informative and give us something to support Linden easier.

Crappity crap crap. I still don't know about my job. My supervisor has extended the unveiling to Thursday. Obviously the decision isn't clear cut. Damn. Oh well - at least I have a job for another two days.
I've finished a heart this weekend and 1/2 way done another one. I should be done by tomorrow - that's one present crossed off my list. See - Christmas knitting isn't all that hard. Yeah, ask me again in about a month from now. I couldn't resist this picture of the kids. Tney look so serious!
I've been having problems with google page creator - I just lost my month's entries. Stupid piece of crap. This is the second time this month thatI've run into problems with it. I can't even pull my old page up as I saved over it already. Damn. Oh well - didn't lose lots anyways.
